If your appointments feel rushed, you're not imagining it.

You might be sitting with a feeling you can’t quite name yet. Something about your care doesn’t feel right, but you’re not sure what to do about it.

Maybe your appointments feel too short to ask the questions you actually have. Maybe you’re receiving different advice from different people and you don’t know who to trust. Maybe you’re carrying the weight of a previous birth, an IVF journey, or a quiet fear you haven’t said out loud.

None of that makes you difficult. It makes you aware.

And it means you deserve care that actually has the space to hold what you’re carrying.

Care That Centres You,
Not a Protocol

Beneath the Palms Midwifery offers continuity of care midwifery in Cairns. That means one midwife, from pregnancy through to postpartum. Not a different midwife each time. Not a story you have to repeat. A relationship built on trust, time, and genuine understanding of your story.

This is emotionally safe midwifery care grounded in four pillars:

Individualised Care

Your care is shaped around your story, your needs, and your goals. Not a standard checklist.

Emotional Safety

A space where your fears are taken seriously, your feelings are respected, and you’re never rushed.

Informed Choice

Clear explanations and honest context so you can make decisions with confidence, not confusion.

Postpartum Support

Care that continues well beyond birth, with practical guidance, emotional grounding, and ongoing connection.

Postpartum

Home visits focused on you and your baby. Feeding support, settling guidance, and early parenting care. Emotional check-ins and space to process your birth experience. A personalised postpartum plan built before your baby arrives.

Support That Meets You Where You Are

Whether you’re early in pregnancy, navigating the postpartum weeks, or processing a past birth experience, there’s a clear pathway for your care.

Continuity of Care

A midwife who walks with you the whole way, through pregnancy, birth and those first weeks at home. Whether it's your first baby, an IVF journey, or care that left you unsupported, you have one person who knows your story and explains things clearly, so you're never piecing it together alone.

Postpartum Support

Those early weeks with a new baby can feel like a lot. With grounded, evidence-informed support around feeding, settling, sleep and the emotional adjustment, the overwhelm starts to ease. You get practical guidance that fits your family, not a textbook, and someone to lean on when the days feel hard.

Birth Debriefing

When a previous birth still sits heavy, whether it was traumatic, confusing, or simply not what you hoped for, you deserve the space to make sense of it. Together we unpack what happened, process how it felt, and find a clearer path forward, especially if another pregnancy is on the horizon.

C-Section Scar Release

Specialised hands-on release work for C-section and abdominal scars. Reduce pain, restore sensation and reconnect with your body, from 8 weeks postpartum or years on.

Labour and Birth Bodywork

Hands-on pregnancy bodywork to ease aches, support optimal baby positioning and prepare your body and mind for birth. Available in the second and third trimester.

Acudneeding & Moxibustion

Evidence-informed needling therapy administered by a trained midwife. Support for pregnancy discomfort, birth preparation, breech babies and postpartum recovery.

How Private Midwifery Works with Medicare

One of the most common questions is about cost, and it’s an important one. Here’s what you need to know.

As an eligible private midwife, many of the services provided through Beneath the Palms Midwifery attract Medicare rebates. This means your out-of-pocket cost is often lower than people expect.

What affects your individual cost depends on your specific care needs, your Medicare eligibility, and which services are included in your plan. Rather than guessing, the clearest way to understand what your care would cost is through a conversation.

Meet Caitlin

Caitlin is a registered midwife with over 14 years of experience across hospital and community settings. Before midwifery, she worked in paramedicine and veterinary nursing. Those environments taught her how to stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and make people feel safe even in stressful moments.

She started Beneath the Palms Midwifery because she saw too many women leave their care feeling rushed, confused, or unheard. She wanted to offer something different. Care where women have the time, information, and emotional safety to lead their own journey.

Her approach is trauma-aware, evidence-informed, and built around you, not a protocol. She listens before she speaks, explains before she recommends, and creates space for every question you need to ask.

Let’s Talk Through Your Options

You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need a space where your questions are welcome and your options are clear. No pressure. No commitment. Just a conversation about what your care could look like.
