Your baby will find the best position they can with the space available. This work creates more of it.
Hands-on pregnancy bodywork to ease aches and pains, encourage optimal baby positioning, and prepare your body — and your mind — for birth.

The third trimester is not supposed to feel like something to survive.
But for a lot of women, that's exactly what it becomes. The aches that won't shift. The baby who seems wedged in an uncomfortable position. The sense that your body is working against you rather than with you. And the quiet worry that none of this is quite right.
You might be carrying some of these:
- Pelvic, hip or lower back pain that gets worse as you get further along
- A baby in a position that's making movement uncomfortable or sleep impossible
- Rib pain, pubic symphysis discomfort or sciatic pain down your legs
- Tension in your body that you can't seem to release no matter what you try
- A sense that your body isn't as prepared or aligned for birth as it could be
- Anxiety about birth that lives in your body, not just your head

You don't need to...
- Have a perfect pregnancy or a low-risk classification
- Have tried other treatments first
- Know anything about baby positioning before you arrive
- Wait until closer to your due date to start
Babies find the position they can with the space available. This work creates more of it.
Labour and birth bodywork draws on the teachings of Gabrielle Brennan, a globally recognised approach to preparing the pregnant body for an optimal birth. The focus is on releasing tension, creating physical and emotional space, and allowing your baby to move into the most favourable position for labour and birth.
This isn't just about where your baby is sitting. It's about how your pelvis, ligaments, fascia and muscles are holding (or releasing) and how that affects the experience your baby has as they navigate their way down and out.
When we work with the body rather than against it, labour tends to be more efficient, more comfortable and more within your control.

Three steps to a more comfortable, better-prepared body for birth

We start with a conversation
Every session begins with a thorough discussion about where you are in your pregnancy, what you're experiencing and what you need from the session. This shapes everything that follows.
Assessment and hands-on release work
Using abdominal palpation and body assessment, Caitlin determines where your baby is sitting and what your body needs. She then works through targeted external release work, stretches and positional techniques to reduce tension, create space and encourage optimal baby positioning.

You leave feeling held, aligned and prepared
Most clients leave the session feeling notaiceably more comfortable and more connected to their body and their baby. You'll also have techniques and positions to continue using at home between sessions.
What your labour and birth bodywork session covers
- In-depth intake conversation — your pregnancy journey, current discomforts and birth goals
- Abdominal palpation — to assess baby's position and determine what your body needs
- Targeted release work — external bodywork, stretches and positional techniques to reduce tension and create space
- Baby positioning support — encouraging your baby toward an optimal position for labour
- Emotional and physical preparation — grounding work to help you feel ready, not just physically but mentally
- Home techniques — positions and movements to continue between sessions

Skilled hands, before birth. Not just during.
Caitlin Mason is a registered midwife with over 14 years of experience across hospital and community settings. Before midwifery, she worked in paramedicine and veterinary nursing, environments that trained her to stay calm, communicate clearly, and make people feel safe in high-stakes moments.
She moved to private practice because she kept watching women arrive at birth without the preparation, information or support their bodies and minds actually needed. Labour bodywork is an extension of that same conviction, that preparation matters, and that the body deserves skilled, hands-on attention before birth, not just during it.
This work is drawn from the teachings of Gabrielle Brennan a globally respected approach to labour preparation that Caitlin has trained in specifically to bring to her clients in Cairns.

Common Questions About Birth Bodywork
Caitlin does not provide labour or birthing attendance. Her continuity of care model focuses on pregnancy care, thorough birth preparation, and postpartum support at home. By the time labour begins, you’ll have had in-depth planning sessions, a clear set of birth preferences, and a prepared support person beside you. Many women find this level of preparation gives them the confidence they need going into their birth.
As early as feels right for you. Many women get in touch during their first trimester, but there’s no wrong time. If you’re further along, Caitlin can talk through what a care plan looks like from where you are now.
Caitlin provides primary maternity care, so most clients don’t need separate GP pregnancy appointments. If your situation benefits from shared care, she’ll discuss and coordinate this with you.
Pregnancy appointments are available at the Freshwater clinic or in your home (Palm Cove to Gordonvale, with additional travel costs outside this range). All postpartum visits are in your home.
Caitlin has referral pathways with GPs, obstetricians, and hospital teams. If your needs change, she’ll communicate openly and collaborate with other providers.
