Your C-section scar deserves more than being told it will fade.
Specialised scar release for women who are still dealing with pain, numbness, pulling or a core that won't switch on whether you're 8 weeks postpartum or years on.

If your C-section scar still doesn't feel like yours, you're not imagining it.
Most women are sent home after a caesarean with very little information about what their scar actually needs. The focus is on the wound closing. Not on what happens to the tissue underneath, or how it affects the way you move, breathe, and feel in your own body.
You might be living with some of these:
A shelf or ridge above the scar that hasn't shifted, no matter what you've tried
Numbness, tingling or a feeling that the skin there just isn't yours
A pulling sensation when you move, bend or stretch
Ongoing pain at the scar site, even if it's been years
A core that feels switched off, weak, or impossible to connect to
Emotional heaviness tied to the surgery, especially if it wasn't planned
These are not things you just have to accept. They're signs your scar tissue needs specific, skilled attention.

You don't need to...
have a GP referral for postpartum sessions
have tried physio or other treatment first
have a 'bad enough' scar to justify treatment
wait until you feel ready or have it all figured out
C-section scar release is one of the most underused tools in postpartum recovery.
Scar tissue from a caesarean can disrupt neurological signalling throughout the abdomen, reducing muscle activation, strength and functional movement. It affects your pelvic floor, your breath and your ability to find and use your core properly.
Through specialised manual therapy, we work directly with the scar to soften adhesions, restore sensation and improve the way your body moves and functions. Then we guide you back to your breath and your core, so you can actually feel connected again.
This work is available from 8 weeks postpartum. It can also be done during the second and third trimester of pregnancy, and on scars from laparoscopic surgeries including endometriosis procedures. And if your scar is years old, it is not too late.

Three steps to feeling more like yourself again

Book your initial session
Choose postpartum (from 8 weeks) or pregnancy (second and third trimester). No referral needed for postpartum sessions.
We assess and work with your scar
Your initial session includes a full history, a gentle scar assessment and hands-on manual release work. We look at mobility, sensation and how the tissue is affecting your movement and muscle activation.

You leave with tools to continue
Every session ends with guided breathwork, core reconnection and simple techniques you can use at home between appointments.
What your C-section scar release session covers
Comprehensive intake — your birth history, current symptoms and goals
Gentle scar assessment — mobility, sensation and tissue quality
Hands-on manual scar release — softening adhesions, reducing pain and pulling
Guided breathwork and core reconnection — helping you find and activate what's gone quiet
Home care guidance — simple techniques to continue the work between sessions

This is for you if...
You're at least 8 weeks postpartum and your C-section scar is healed but still causing problems
You're pregnant (second or third trimester) and want to address an existing abdominal or laparoscopic scar
Your scar is years old and you've been told there's nothing that can be done
Your core feels switched off and exercise isn't fixing it
You're carrying emotional weight from a caesarean — planned or unplanned
This is not for you if...
Your wound is fewer than 8 weeks healed or has not fully closed
You're pregnant (second or third trimester) and want to address an existing abdominal or laparoscopic scar
You have an active infection or open wound at the scar site

Hands trained for exactly this
Caitlin Mason is a registered midwife with over 14 years of experience across hospital and community settings. Before midwifery, she worked in paramedicine and veterinary nursing, environments that trained her to stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and make people feel safe when things feel uncertain.
She moved to private practice because she kept watching women arrive at critical moments without the information, time, or support they deserved. She wanted to start earlier and go deeper.
Her own experience with postnatal depression after her second baby informs everything she does, including this work. She understands what women carry long after the clinical picture looks resolved.
Caitlin completed her scar release training hands-on with Madeline at Body Lane, and stays a member of the Body Lane Academy to keep her knowledge and technique current. These sessions exist because the body deserves the same quality of care and attention as the birth itself.

Common Questions About
C-Section Scar Release
From 8 weeks postpartum, once your wound has fully closed and healed. If you're unsure, check with your GP or midwife first.
C-section scar release can begin from 8 weeks postpartum, once the wound has fully closed and healed. During pregnancy, scar release work is safe from the second trimester onward. For older scars, treatment is effective regardless of how long ago the surgery took place.
No. Scar tissue responds to treatment long after surgery. Many clients see meaningful improvement in mobility and sensation from scars that are several years old.
Yes. Scar release is safe from the second trimester and is also suitable for scars from laparoscopic surgeries such as endometriosis or gallbladder removal.
Postpartum sessions do not require a referral. For pregnancy sessions, a GP or obstetrician referral is needed to access the Medicare rebate, but you can book without one.
Gentle self-massage can be helpful from around 8 weeks. However, professional scar release works with deeper tissue layers that self-massage cannot reach — including the adhesions that affect muscle activation and core function.
The work is gentle and always guided by your feedback. Some areas may feel tender or emotionally charged. We move at a pace that feels safe for you.
This varies depending on your scar, your symptoms and how long it has been since surgery. Most clients benefit from a series of sessions. Your initial appointment will give us a clearer picture of what your body needs.
